Widgets on iOS are universally loved. And why wouldn’t they be? Allowing you to view important information at a glance, without having to open a whole app – sounds like a win to me!

If you keep on top of your blood sugar, you are surely interested in knowing what your most recent reading is. If you use a CGM or similar to monitor your glucose automatically, it stands to reason that your blood sugar updates more frequently than you can keep up with it. That’s where having something like a widget can help.

Glucomate has recently been updated to add Lock Screen widgets on iPhone and iPad. The widgets show your latest blood glucose reading as it appears in HealthKit on your device. The widget will also show an arrow indicating if the reading is in range, low, or high, along with the time of the reading so you are always be aware of how current the reading is. Please note that depending on how your readings are sent to your iPhone or iPad, the device will need to be unlocked for the complication to update with recent data.

So, how do we add a Glucomate widget to our lock screen?

  1. Long press on the current lock screen on your iPhone or iPad, and tap the “Customise” button at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap the big “+ Add Widgets” area
  3. Navigate the list of apps until you find Glucomate
  4. Tap to select your desired Glucomate widget
  5. You’ll see a preview of the complication in its new slot. If you’re happy with it, tap the “x” button on the sheet
  6. Finally (and this is important), tap the “Done” button at the top right of the screen. This saves your configuration and keeps the widgets in place.

That’s it! You now have a Glucomate widget on your Lock Screen.

Glucomate is an app for your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch that uses as a data source and store for blood glucose readings, and provides you with an elegant way to record readings, but also to review history and trends later on with beautiful summaries and charts.
